Application of coal tar pitch as an alternative to polyacrylonitrile in electroforming of composite fibres

Abstract. The paper presents the results of studies on the synthesis of carbon fibers from polyacrylonitrile and coal furnace. Coal tar pitch was produced by the thermal treatment of coal tar. Carbon fibres from a mixture of PAN/coal pitch were obtained by electrospinning. Properties of obtained coal tar pitch were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, optical microscopy; EDAX analysis was carried out. The obtained fibres were examined by SEM and EDAX analysis was done.
